# Create a usability test

> Create an unmoderated usability test study.

Use a usability test when you want participants to complete tasks and show where a product, prototype, or flow creates friction.

## Create the study

1. Open **Projects**.
2. Select the project where the test belongs.
3. Click **Add Study from scratch**.
4. Enter the **Study name**.
5. Optional: add a **Study description**.
6. Click **Build Study**.

## Add the usability method

1. In the study builder, click **Add method** or **Add new block**.
2. Select **Usability Test - Unmoderated**.
3. Add the task instructions participants should follow.
4. Add the link, prototype, or flow you want participants to test.
5. Review the **Welcome** and **Thank you** steps.
6. Save your changes.

## Launch the test

1. Click **Preview** to check the participant experience.
2. Click **Go live**.
3. Choose the start date and optional end date.
4. Share the live study link with participants.

  For moderated sessions or live interviews, use **User Sphere** instead of **Usability Test - Unmoderated**.
