# Connect PostHog

> Connect PostHog so Fred can use aggregate product analytics as evidence.

Use the PostHog integration to support or challenge research findings with aggregate product analytics.

## Start the connection

1. Click your avatar in the left sidebar.
2. Click **Settings**.
3. Open **Integrations**.
4. Click **Available apps**.
5. Find **PostHog**.
6. Click **Connect PostHog**.

## Choose your PostHog workspace type

In the connection modal:

1. Choose **PostHog Cloud** or **Self-hosted**.
2. If you choose **Self-hosted**, enter the self-hosted PostHog URL.
3. Click **Connect PostHog**.
4. Complete the PostHog authorization flow.

## Finish setup

When Fred asks for setup after authorization:

1. Choose whether Fred should read from a PostHog **environment** or **project**.
2. Enter the environment ID or project ID.
3. Optional: enter a display name.
4. Click **Save PostHog setup**.

Fred runs a validation check before marking the connection ready.
